He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as a hospital corpsman. Jack graduated from Mercer University with a BA in History. He worked in central Georgia as a bookmobile librarian from 1959-1965. He worked for Goodwill Industries as a client evaluator from 1965-1993. He also became trained as a refrigeration repairman while at Goodwill Industries. Jack and his wife are charter members of Covenant Presbyterian Church in East Brainerd, where he faithfully served as a deacon and was named their first Deacon, Emeritus. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Jack was also preceded in death by his brothers, James and Brinson, sister, Nell Beck.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ardeth West; children, Andy West, Michelle Parker, and Dawn Reynolds, brother, Earle West, sister, Shirley Pat Cox, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held on March 6, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 11:00 am until time of service at the church.
