He was born in Starkville, MS and was the son of the late Leonard Allen Robinson, a retired Auburn University Professor of Accounting, serving as the Accounting Chair and Marjorie Rohmer Robinson Reina, a retired school teacher. Alan graduated from Auburn University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in August of 1977 and he received his Master’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in August of 1991.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, achieving the rank of Captain. Alan served during the Vietnam Conflict, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Aviation Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart. He served as the Clinical Director for the Fortwood Mental Health Center before retiring.
Alan’s interests included trout fishing, cooking, his craziness over his cats, going out to see a movie and he was nuts over football, especially the Auburn War Eagles until his grandson decided to play football for the Tennessee Volunteers, starting this fall. He is now a Tennessee Vols fan but will forever remain an Auburn War Eagle fan. Alan was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Army Cadet Dana Robinson.
Alan leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Teresa Robinson; two children, Sean (Christy) Robinson and Megan (Phillip) Sandoval; eight grandchildren, a wonderful In-Law family that treasured him greatly; several nieces, nephews, uncles, cousins and numerous great friends.
The family will receive friends from 10 AM – 12 Noon Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the funeral home.
