Thomas F. Gilmartin

Thomas “Tom” Gilmartin, son of Fred and Mildred Gilmartin, passed peacefully into heaven Saturday, December 10, 2022 at his home in Chatham just following his 79th birthday. He is preceded by his beloved wife, Nancy, who passed in May 2022 and leaves behind his family, who loves him very much, and many friends.

Tom was born and raised in Chatham, and was well known by the local and visiting community, who especially enjoyed the many years he and Nancy owned and operated the Ridgevale Restaurant. Tom was a master chef and loved serving people. Over the past years, he and Nancy lived half the year in Chatham, and the other half in Laguna Beach, CA.

Tom had a deep faith in Jesus Christ, and was known as a loyal friend who took interest in helping people. He was a deep thinker and told things like they were. He loved the sea, he loved telling great stories, he loved all kinds of good music, he loved scalloping and clamming, taking long beach runs, and he loved the people in his life dearly. Tom was the loving brother of W.F. Gilmartin, Jr., Bonnie F. Gerstley, and Eileen M. Franklin. He was also a faithful son, wonderful uncle, cousin and friend. His favorite person throughout his life’s journey was his beloved wife Nancy, and they were devoted to each other to the end.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Union Cemetery, Chatham.
