Rita was born in Chatham on October 13, 1930, daughter of Fred and Katherine Forgeron. In 1949, soon after graduating from Chatham High School, she married Walter H. Terrio, Jr. The couple moved to his home town, Chelsea, MA to live and run W.H.Terrio - Meats, Fish, and Provisions. In 1960, the couple returned to Chatham where they raised their family. Rita was a long-time parishioner of the Holy Redeemer Church. She loved to read, build puzzles, bake oatmeal cookies and attend family gatherings.
She is survived by her five children; Robert and wife Veronica, Debra Roskey and husband Mark, Peter “Bing” and wife Jennifer, Neal and wife Nadine, James and wife Kimberly. She is also survived by her sister Ethel Porter, her brother Jack Forgeron, Sister-in-law Virginia Forgeron, as well as 12 grandchildren whom she dearly loved.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, October 3rd from 5pm-8pm at the Nickerson Funeral Home on 87 Crowell Road in Chatham. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, October 4th at 10am at the Holy Redeemer Church, 57 Highland Avenue in Chatham followed by her burial at the Union Cemetery.
