Saturday July 23, 1932 – Sunday November 19, 2023
Richard Kay (Bud) Orswell of East Harwich, MA and Englewood, FL passed away on November 19, 2023 at his winter home in Englewood FL. Bud was born July 23, 1932 in Medford, MA and grew up and graduated from high school in Milford, MA. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Boston after basic training for 2 years. He married Evelyn Brothers in 1953, and settled in Medway, MA for over 40 years, and built, from the ground up, the home he eventually retired to in East Harwich, MA. Bud loved the outdoors and was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and shell fishing. He volunteered for over 25 years as a range safety officer, training youth in the safe use of firearms. Bud also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends on his boat, the Short Ranger, out on Pleasant Bay and taking his 4-wheel drive truck out on Nauset Beach. After a career in the printing industry, Bud’s interest turned to two things, his antique cars and boating. He took great pride in his collection of vintage Ford Model A’s and his younger V8 Fords and was active with the auto clubs for these enthusiasts on Cape Cod. Bud served in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary for over 20 years, promoting boating safety and giving historic tours of the lighthouse at Station Chatham. In retirement, Bud would spend his winters in Florida enjoying the warm sun and avoiding the snow in the northeast.
Bud is predeceased by his wife Evelyn, as well as his companion later in life, Nancy Vance and survived by his two sons Robert N. of Englewood, FL and Gary R. and his wife LuAnne of Efland, NC along with his granddaughters Stephanie K. of Stirling, Scotland and Jennifer N. of London, England.
