John Ward Sr.

John was born in 1927 in Cambridge, MA. the son of the late Peter and Bridget (McCadden) Ward. John received his high school diploma from the St. Clements School in Somerville, MA; was a Sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, and is a 1952 graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a degree in electrical engineering. His career spanned many years at Westinghouse, Raytheon, and as a founder and CEO of technology companies.

John is survived by his three children, Cynthia Ward Stanley of Williamsburg, VA; Jill Ward of Boston, MA; and John P. Ward Jr. of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.; and by his brother, Dennis Ward of Somerville, MA. John has four loving grandchildren, Elizabeth Ward Stanley, John P Ward III (“Jake”), Ryan P. Ward, and Alexis Ward. He leaves behind many dear friends, including his loyal and loving companion Ann Harrison of Chatham, MA.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 5pm-8 pm at Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham, MA. John’s funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 10am in St. Joan of Arc Church, 61 Canal Road, Orleans MA followed by his burial in Orleans Cemetery. There will be a reception, following the funeral service, at the Eastward Ho! Country Club located at 325 Fox Hill Rd, Chatham, MA at 12:30 pm.
