Jean-Paul Aucoin Jr.

Jean-Paul was born in Philadelphia, Penn., in 1958, and spent his childhood years in Springfield, Mass., and summers at his favorite place, Black Point, Conn. He later lived in Monson, Mass., and finally settled here on the Cape.

Jean attended prep school at Cranwell Academy and Suffield Academy, and graduated with a degree in psychology from Assumption College. He then went on to work for Peter Pan Bus Lines, where he was a Senior Vice-President in administration for many years.

Jean’s greatest passions were the sea and nature. He grew up around boats and his fondest memories as a child were always of his days at Black Point, waterskiing, swimming, anything that could get him on the water. He loved snow skiing and spent many many weekends in the Berkshires on the slopes with his cousin, David Robillard. He loved gardening, decorating, David Letterman, and his wit was extraordinary. He attended Mass daily with his father at Holy Redeemer Parish,Chatham. He was a man of many talents, but his greatest quality was his compassion for others. He was a good listener and a good sympathizer, and people always felt comfortable being around his quiet and gentle nature. He was devoted to his mother, Ruth Bouyea Aucoin, and cared for her unconditionally before she passed away in 1989.

Jean-Paul is survived by his son Jean-Paul Aucoin III, his father Jean-Paul Aucoin Sr. and his wife Joan Tacke Aucoin of Chatham, Mass., brother Joseph Aucoin and his wife Michelle of Brewster, Mass. , sister Michelle Scott of Harwich, Mass., and step sister Aimee-Rose Aucoin at University of Central Florida, Orlando, Fl. and Chatham, Mass. He is also survived by his niece and nephews, Emily Aucoin, Nauset High School Senior, of Brewster, Mass., Sean Scott of Stamford, Conn., and Thomas Scott of Harwich, Mass, his former wife Michelle Varney and Justin Panico of Monson, Mass., Charles Tacke of Merrick, NY, and David Scott, of Port Jefferson, NY.

The most important person in his life, and for which he was so rightly proud, is his son, Jean-Paul Aucoin III known as JP, who recently graduated from Monson High School, June 2013, and is presently working at Peter Pan Bus Lines, Springfield, with plans to attend community college. JP and his mother experienced the total loss of their home during the devastating tornado. Calling hours will be Thursday, March 27, at Nickerson Funeral Home in Chatham, for 4-7. A funeral Mass will be held at 10am on Friday, March 28, at Holy Redeemer Parish in Chatham. Burial is private. Jean will be laid to rest at a later date next to his mother in Seaside Cemetery.
