George Edwin Metters

George was born in Attleboro, MA on October 30, 1943. He moved to Chatham when he was five years old and lived the rest of his life there.

After graduating from Chatham High School, George became a jack of all trades. He joined the National Guard, became a barber, then a builder. He and his dad built Metters Cottages, a family-owned rental business, which has been operating since 1945.

In 1970, George married the love of his life, Donna. He and Donna enjoyed going to estate sales. George also enjoyed playing golf, making raviolis, homemade chicken pies, and watching his grandchildren grow.

George is predeceased by his parents, George Edward and Hilda Metters and his brother, John Metters. George is also predeceased by his wife, Donna Metters. They were married for 45 years.

George is survived by his son Cory Metters, his wife Rebecca Metters, and his four grandsons: Jason, Noah, Dylan, and Henry. He is also survived by his daughter Shannon (Metters) Horan, her husband, Charles, and granddaughter Chloe.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday February 23 from 4PM to 7PM at Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham, MA 02633. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the graveside service on Saturday, February 24 at 11 AM, Union Cemetery.
