Arthur was born in Natick, MA to the late Lt. Col. Peter M. Valle and Beatrice A. (Barratt) Valle. Being in the military, the family enjoyed the opportunity to experience many places and finally settled in Chatham, MA. He graduated from Chatham High School in 1962 and went on to Berkshire Community College. In 1963 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served until 1967.
In 1966 he married his first wife, Mary, who predeceased him in 2001.
Arthur was a hard worker. Over the years, he worked many jobs, sometimes three at a time. He was truly at his happiest when he was driving trucks. He was a lover of antique army vehicles and also a train enthusiast who was a member of the Nauset Model Railroad Club. In his later years, he also enjoyed trips to Brazil.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Alzize; sister, Lynne M, Valle, of Branford, CT; daughter, Catherine M. Valle (Mark) and grandson, John J. Shakliks III, of Harwich, MA. He is also survived by step-children, Laercio of Brazil, Mychella and Joel, as well as step-grandchildren, Frederico and Aisha, all of Centerville, MA. Arthur is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Peter.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 15th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Nickerson Funeral Home in Chatham. Burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arthur’s memory to the American Diabetes Association.
