He was born on March 28, 1934, in Chatham, IL, the son of Lester Charles and Edith (Brindle) Branham. Charles married Geraldine Skaggs on June 19, 1954, in Chatham. She preceded him in death on July 6, 1999.
Charles graduated from Chatham High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, stationed in Alaska for two years. Charles went on to own and operate Branham Construction with his brothers, building many houses throughout the Chatham area. He had also previously worked for the State of Illinois, and during retirement, he drove for Freedom Chevrolet in Virden. Charles was a member of Chatham’s American Legion and VFW. He loved fishing, gardening, woodworking crafts, and anything outdoors. Charles was a good-hearted, always on the move family man that looked forward to family cookouts.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; one sister; and grandson, Chase Kendrick Lewis Hunt.
Charles is survived by his sons, Rick (Karen) Branham of Waverly and Kevin (Cindy) Branham of Glenarm; daughter, Kimberly Branham of Thayer; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
A private Burial was held at Chatham Memorial Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the U.S. Air Force.
