Virginia Greenwood Pattison was born Virginia Leslie Greenwood on January 24, 1952 at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Tex. to Lt. Col. Lester Greenwood and Virginia McLeod Greenwood. She died Monday, August 15, 2016, of cancer at home with family.
Virginia was a graduate of Lane High School and in the first class of women admitted to Virginia Tech. She graduated from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio after which she began her career as a CPA specializing in Tax accounting. As a member of an Air Force family, Virginia traveled the world and lived in many places growing up: Tex., Okla., Calif., Hawaii, Mass., N.Y., Ill., Germany, Charlottesville and Columbus, Ohio.
Virginia is preceded in death by her father, Lester Greenwood and her brother, Randy Greenwood. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Pattison; three sons, Shawn Pattison of Arlington, Va., Jason Pattison of Ruckersville, Va., Brian Pattison of Charlottesville; her mother, Virginia Greenwood; her sister, Sheree Greenwood of Springfield, Mass.; and four grandchildren, Navy Midshipman Gwendelyn Pattison, Bailey Pattison, Robert Pattison and Lucie Pattison.
Virginia was fiercely proud of her sons and grandchildren. Virginia was a Life Member of the Earlysville Volunteer Fire Company where she served as a volunteer EMT. A memorial service will be held at Ivy Creek United Methodist Church,674 Woodlands Road, Charlottesville on Monday, August 22, 2016,at 11:30 a.m. Contributions may be made in her name to Ivy Creek United Methodist Church and the Earlysville Volunteer Fire Company.
