Ruby Shifflett

Ruby is survived by her three daughters, Fay Raines and her husband, William, Mary Cromer and her husband, Leonard, and Pamela Turner and her husband, James. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Ruby Jess Rybak, Heather Wilson, Joshua Cromer, and Corey Raines; and seven great-grandchildren, Logan and Jackson Rybak, Adam, Benjamin, Nicholas, and Charlotte Wilson, and Tucker Cromer. Ruby is also survived by long-time caregivers and friends, Gabriela and Alfonso Martinez.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Stewart "Steve" Shifflett; and her siblings, Jack Lewis Sprouse Jr., Henry Lee Sprouse, Melvin William Sprouse, Marvin Leonard Sprouse, James Edward Sprouse, Ruth Ann Mundie, and Catherine Louise Sprouse.

Ruby was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, volunteer, and friend. She spent much of her life helping and caring for others. She had a special place in her heart for children.

Ruby never stopped missing Steve, and now she has joined him. We can just imagine them saying "Where have you been, Sugarbabe?"

She will be deeply missed by her family and lifelong friends, and by her new friends at Sunrise of Bon Air in Richmond. The family would like to thank the staff at Sunrise for their care over the past few years.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019, at 2 p.m., at Teague Funeral Service in Charlottesville. A graveside service will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
