While the family mourns her passing and already misses her, they rejoice that she is at peace with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She had been in a nursing home in Suffolk, VA since January, 2022 after a massive stroke.
Mrs. Spradlin was born on April 30, 1943 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, VA. Her parents were Richard and Elizabeth Sprouse, both now deceased. She grew into adulthood in Charlottesville, VA., graduated from Lane High School, and then worked for a few years in the Virginia National Bank before being employed by Martin Roofing, where she worked as Office Manager for forty years. She and her first husband, Bill Spradlin, had a forty-two-year marriage before he passed. Years after Bill’s passing, Paula married Kenny Sprouse, who is now also deceased.
Paula was a devoted Christian and a true servant to God and to others, offering support and helping hands as often as she could to her family, friends, and neighbors. She was an excellent cook, knitter, seamstress, and an avid reader until the last few years of her life. She loved people, viewed life in a positive, hopeful way, and was generous in every possible opportunity.
Her marriage to Bill produced two children and eventually grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Tamie Rittenhouse (Todd) of Suffolk, VA and their three children, Brendan Rittenhouse, Sydney Chaney (Michael), and Ashton Lietuvninkas, whose children are Madison, Lilly and Emersyn, all of the Tidewater area. She is also survived by her son Billy Spradlin (Caelyn) and their two children, Willow and Meadow, and Billy’s two sons, Austin and Garrett. Paula’s only sibling, Dottie McClain (Dennis) of Eatonton,GA also survives her. She also leaves behind a long-time and much beloved friend, Carlene Wolfe.
Arrangements are set for Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Teague Funeral Home on 2260 Ivy Road, Charlottesville VA, to celebrate Paula’s life. Visitation will be from 10:00am-12:00pm followed by a service at 12:00pm. Burial will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens.
