Patricia was native to Bladensburg, Maryland. Born February 4, 1953 to the late Lewis E. Brogan Sr. and Ruth I. (Thompson) Brogan.
Patricia graduated in 1971 from Bladensburg High School and became a LPN in 1973. She worked at the Towers Hospital in Charlottesville, where she met Steven through his mother, Mary. They were married on June 4th, 1976. She moved to South Carolina with Steven during his time in the Air Force. In October of 1979, they welcomed their only daughter Tracy. She also lived and practiced in Phoenix, AZ while stationed there. After Steven's service ended, they moved back to Virginia and Patricia practiced nursing in Louisa at Louisa Healthcare Center and the University of Virginia Medical Center until her retirement in 2000.
Patricia had many hobbies and pastimes, including knitting, sewing, and baking. She later loved working on crossword puzzles and word searches. She also loved watching game shows. Another pastime she enjoyed was spending time with her friends. When she had friends over, she ensured that no one went hungry. She kept snacks on hand to grab and go. Her favorite time was Christmas, so please keep the spirit of Christmas in your heart during this time.
Throughout her life, Patricia faced numerous challenges, both physical and emotional, that would have overwhelmed many. Yet, she embodied resilience. There was no obstacle she couldn't overcome, and it is with this same strength that we now accept that her time has come.
In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved sister Nancy Livesay, brother Lewis E. Brogan Jr., mother-in-law Mary Lois Ratliff, and son-in-law, Charles Jason Marshall
Patricia leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 48 years, Steven B. Dudley; daughter, Tracy L. Marshall; grandsons Christopher Allen and Nathaniel Patrick Marshall. She also leaves behind her younger brother Michael E. Brogan, as well as her younger sister Hazel E. Mason, both of Louisa. Patricia also leaves behind many nieces and nephews for whom she adored and loved immensely. She also leaves behind her cat Sissy and her "granddog", Baymax who made her giggle every time he came over to visit.
Following Patricia’s wishes, there will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in the Spring when the flowers she loved looking at are in bloom.
In place of flowers, please donate in Patricia's name to the Charlottesville SPCA or plant a tree in her name.
