Nellie Louise Gibson Haney, 90, of Charlottesville, died Sunday, February 22, 2015 at her home. Born June 12, 1924 in Albemarle County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Nellie Mary Gibson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Haney; her grandson, Willie Dale Vest, Jr.; brothers, Verley, Luther and Bill Gibson; and a special friend, Linwood “Pop” Bailey. Louise graduated from Meriwether Lewis High School. She was a weaver at Frank Ix and retired with over 40 years of service. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a Sunday School teacher there for 20 years. She was a loving “Nanny” to Hunter Alan Loose and Tyler Conn Wagner. She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Vest and her husband Willie; a son, Mike Haney and his wife Wendy; grandchildren, Ashley and Austin Haney; a very loving sister, Frances Loose and her husband Herman; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Monticello Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the Teague Funeral Home. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to the Trap and Release program of the SPCA or any other animal shelter in memory of Louise’s furry friends.
