Mark Davis Rea

It is with heavy hearts we share that Mark Davis Rea of Batesville, VA passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 23, 2022. He was born in Crozet, VA on October 8, 1940. He was the son of the late Leonard Wilson Rea and Mary Burke Rea.

Mark is survived by his children, daughter Lynn Cooley and husband Rob, son “MD” Mark Davis Rea II and wife Vanessa, daughter Wendy Rea, daughter “Joey” Mary Jo Patterson and husband Josh, and son Andrew Rea; grandchildren Ashton Cooley, Marnessa, Malerie and Morgan Rea, Micah Riley and Layla, Leighton, Jax, Presley and Olivia Patterson; girlfriend Sheila Pride; nieces, Dianna Rea Wolf Dix and husband David, Patsy Rea Swain and husband Bob, nephews, “J.J.” John Jay Wolf Jr, and “Sonny” Marcellus Burke Rea Jr.

He was preceded by his sister, Mabel Rea Wolf and husband John Jay, brothers, Horace Rea, “Lenny” Leonard Rea Jr., and “Cell” Marcellus Burke Rea Sr and wife Sue, and niece, Brenda Rea McAdams.

Mark was a lifetime member of the Batesville community, a Naval Veteran, and a proud Teamster. He was well loved by a lifetime of friends and family. Mark will be remembered for being the life of the party and for his love of tinkering on old cars, antiques, crossword puzzles, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, music, and dancing. He most enjoyed spending time with friends and family, often making daily rounds to the Whistle Stop Grill and the homes of nearby loved ones.

A Celebration of the Life of Mark Rea will be held on Saturday August 20th from 11:00am - 2:00pm on the Patterson Farm, 264 Patterson Mill Lane Crozet, VA 22932. We will take this time to share stories, look at pictures and remember Mark with friends and family. Feel free to stop by briefly or stay the whole time. The celebration will be casual and primarily outside with shade tents.
