Linda Lee (Trimmier) Scott, 85, of Charlottesville, VA, passed away on September 15, 2024, after a brief illness, at home surrounded by family and friends. A native Texan, Linda was born February 2, 1939, at Saint Paul's Hospital in Dallas, Texas, to the late Beal Bowden and Fannie Evelyn (McLarty) Trimmier.
In her teen years, Linda graduated from Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas and attended North Texas State College in Denton. She began her career in the fashion industry as a model and then worked in the Regional Office of JC Penney in Dallas as a fashion coordinator. She remained with JC Penney until one fateful night in New York City. Mutual friends introduced Linda to Tom Scott, the love of her life; they were married in January 1971 at Saint Mark's Episcopal Church in New Canaan, CT. After settling in with the daily routine of five adopted kids, Linda joined the Newcomers Club of New Canaan, where she met members who became lifelong friends. She longed for the fashion industry. Saks Fifth Avenue opened a store in Stamford, CT, and soon after, she became the Fashion Manager of Fashion Shows and Events. Linda’s flair for coordinating the models and the outfits was always met with great praise.
After living in New Canaan for 30 years, Tom and Linda retired to Charlottesville, VA, where they lived for the rest of their lives. They were devoted community members of the Church of Our Savior, Episcopal Church. Together, they enjoyed the country club life, meeting with old friends and making new friends at the Glenmore Country Club community in Keswick, VA. Linda volunteered as a History Docent at Monticello, the primary plantation of Thomas Jefferson. Before retiring, Linda became the Membership/Marketing Director for five years at the Glenmore Country Club in Keswick, VA.
Linda went out of her way to plan memorable experiences for her family. She took everyone's interests to heart; each trip to Virginia was a special experience. Her grandchildren fondly recall all of the places they went with her and Pop Pop, including the UVA games, water parks, Monticello, horseback riding, the pool, Bodo's, and, of course, there will always be Riverside (where they picture her eating the shoestring fries while sipping on the coke from the glass bottle). Linda loved her family, and her strong love for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, niece, nephew, and great-nieces and nephews was evident each time she saw them or talked to them on the phone.
Linda was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Thomas C. Scott, Jr., and son Thomas C. Scott III. She is survived by her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: David W Scott of Deep River, CT (grandchildren Andy and Sam), Sandra S. Dale of New Canaan, CT (husband Les, and grandchild Ashley R. Larence (husband Eric, great-grandchildren Jackson, Beau, Abigail and Riley), Michael C. Scott of Charlotte, NC (wife Alison and grandchildren Charles and William), Patricia A. Scott of Norwalk, CT and daughter-In–law Susan W. Scott of Cranford, NJ (grandchildren Owen, Ian and Emma). And lastly, her best friend and devoted sister Sheryl (Trimmier) Mahaney of Graham, TX, niece Shelley Bailey of Graham, TX (husband, Blake, grandnieces Gracen, and Georgia), and nephew Jack Mahaney of Graham, TX (wife, Lauren, grandnephews Tripp, and Reno).
Linda will be laid to rest at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 16, 2024 with her husband at the University of Virginia Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Charlottesville Virginia.
Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Linda's honor to the Church of Our Savior, Episcopal Church in Charlottesville, VA. 1165 Rio Road, Charlottesville, VA 22901 (434) 973-6512.
