Layward Lee Lawson Sr.

Layward Lawson, 88 of Dyke passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017. He was born July 21, 1929 in Greene County. Layward is survived by his wife of 60 years Mary; four children, Brinda and her husband Harold, Marilyn and her husband Rudy, L.L. and his wife Alma, and Kenneth and his wife Michelle; grandchildren, Yvette, Dawn, Shawntay, Taylor, Luis, Cheyenne, Brianna, Cody and Stephanie; and great grandchildren, Moneka, Jacoby, Ja’ Kail, and Canaan. Layward was a hard worker, having worked his family farm and as a logger for many years. He was caring and loving as a husband, father, and grandfather. The family expressed their most sincere gratitude to Lauren Marshall, Layward’s longtime caregiver, and Legacy Hospice for their care. You may be gone but you will always be in our hearts. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Lawson Family Cemetery, 468 Estes Ridge, Dyke, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Teague Funeral Home.
