Josephine Badenhausen Conte Known to her family and friends as Josie, died peacefully in her sleep, September 20, 2014. Dorothy Josephine Badenhausen Conte was born April 28, 1926 in Short Hills, NJ. Daughter of Carl W. and Dorothy S. Badenhausen. She was one of six children and the eldest daughter. Josie’s brother Carl and Robert Badenhausen along with her parents predeceased her. Her sisters Helen, Peggy and brother Richard Badenhausen survive her. Josie graduated from Georgian Court College, Lakewood, NJ in 1948. For the past fifty years she has called Charlottesville her home where she resides with her husband, Joseph Conte, and raised seven children, Jeff, Jody, Joanne, Cindy, Barbara, Greg and Tony. Josie is survived by her children, thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, the first of which was born on her birthday. Along with her husband, Josie restored Michie Tavern in the 60s to create one of Virginia’s finest tourist destinations to date. Josie wintered in Boca Grande, FL where she so enjoyed her life as an avid tennis player until very recent. Whether playing or attending a match, tennis was her passion. Playing on the beach was another joy in her life. Josie was a passionate reader. Josie will be remembered for her quick wit and always wanting her calendar to be full of wonderful events to look forward to! The family has requested no flowers please.
