Hazel Marie Gibson of Scottsville, Va., passed away peacefully on Friday, March 4, 2016 at Hospice House in Charlottesville, at the age of 77. She was born in Stony Point on July 11, 1938 to Charles and Leona Pearl Hall and was predeceased in death by her parents , her beloved husband Edgar Ralph Gibson, Jr, and her great granddaughter Hazel Lynn Gibson. Hazel enjoyed camping, bluegrass festivals, annual vacations to Myrtle Beach, and being with her large family. She babysat for many years until moving to Scottsville to their log cabin. She was a kind, gentle, sweet woman with a beautiful smile. She was happiest with family gathered either camping, or on the front porch of the log cabin just enjoying each other’s company. She also enjoyed listening to family sing or her grandchildren playing music. She is survived by her sons, Wade Gibson, and wife Kay, Brian Gibson and wife Pam, Todd Gibson, and wife Lelia, grandchildren Brandy Walters, Nathan Gibson, Matthew Gibson, Virginia Gibson, Meili Gibson, Lili Gibson, Brandon Gibson, Chrystal Jordan, Tyler Gibson, Jeremy Gibson, Alex Gibson, and Jacob Gibson, great grand children, Noah and Lukas Walters and Garrett Jordan, siblings Bo Hall, Charlotte Needham, Wayne Hall, Marion Marshall, Lucille Madison, Donald Hall, Wanda Deane, Jerry Hall, Sonya Hall, and Glen Hall, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Hospice House for taking such excellent care of Hazel in her last few days. Family night will be held at Teague Funeral Home, 2260 Ivy Rd., Charlottesville, Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 6:00pm-7:30pm. Graveside service will be held at Holly Memorial Gardens, 29 North Charlottesville, Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 11am with Rev. Roger Browning officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request contributions be made in Hazel’s memory to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Pkwy #300, Charlottesville, Va. 22911.
