Mr. Edward J Morris

Edward Joseph Morris, 94, of Charlottesville passed away on August 13, 2014 at the Charlottesville Health and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Great Neck, Long Island, NY, Ed was born February 19, 1920 to the late Jennie Slavin and Thomas Morris. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Rosemary Royer Morris and sisters, Genevieve James and Madeline Morris Hitchings. Ed was an Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII, 15th Air Force Division, where he was a top turret gunner on a B-24 Aircraft. While stationed at Mountain Home and Gowen Air Field near Boise Idaho, Ed met his loving wife of 61 years, Rosemary. Ed and Rosemary married in 1946 and lived in Great Neck, NY where Ed worked for Sperry Marine Systems. In 1958, Ed’s job transferred to Charlottesville where he and Rosemary lived happily ever since. He was a long time member of Holy Comforter and Incarnation Catholic Church He is survived by his daughter Suzanne Lori Morris Johnson and her husband Eric and two grandchildren, Kevin Alden Johnson and Sarah Grace Johnson, all of Bowie, MD. A viewing will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday August 19, 2014 at The Church of the Incarnation, 1465 Incarnation Drive, Charlottesville, Virginia. The funeral mass will follow at 12:15 p.m. with Fr. Gregory Kandt officiating. A brief reception and Interment service at Holly Memorial Gardens will follow. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Charlottesville Health and Rehabilitation Center for all their kindness and support during Ed’s illness.
