Donald Lee Simpkins

Donald Lee Simpkins, 84, of Charlottesville, VA passed away on November 8, 2016 at Martha Jefferson Hospital. He was born on April 10, 1932 in Poplar Hill, VA to the late Early Houston Simpkins and Mary Katherine James Simpkins. In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by four sisters: Margaret S. Tabor, Frances S. Collins, Louise S. Kirk, and Carol S. Bennett; and one brother: James Simpkins. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie Kirk Simpkins; one son: Tony Simpkins and his wife Sue; two daughters: Terri S. Martin and her husband Harold, and Tammy S. Flynn and her husband Sean; Eight grandchildren: Kristy and Erika Simpkins, Timmy and Jessie Martin, and Josey, Ryan, Shelby, and Marlena Flynn; two great grandchildren: Alexiah Martin and Shane Shifflett; two brothers: Ronnie Simpkins and his wife Sylvia, and Newton Simpkins and his wife Tamera; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy and Steve Donovan; his sister-in-law Patty Kirk; his dear friend Marylou Kerns, and numerous nieces, nephews and good friends. Don was the ultimate family man. He was always eager to lend a hand to help a friend in need. He loved and lived life to its fullest and will be remembered for his kindnesses to all. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 AM on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Teague Funeral Home, officiated by Pastors Lindsay Ellis and Steve Malone. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 11 from 6 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home.
