Dennis L. White, 86, of Crozet, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13, 2015. Dennis was born March 22, 1928. He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees, followed by service in the U.S. Army Infantry during the Korean Conflict. After military service, he and wife, Betty, returned to Charlottesville, VA, where he was employed for most of his life as a heating and cooling technician, eventually retiring from The University of Virginia. Dennis served as 1st Lieutenant and Captain of the Charlottesville-Albermarle Volunteer Rescue Squad and was a lifetime member. Dennis is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Kidd White; daughter, Donna W. Perkins of Charlottesville; Cynthia D. White of Dallas, TX; two grandsons, Jesse V. Southerlin and Gregory D. Southerlin, both of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by his brother, Clarence D. White and wife, Betty, of Keswick, VA; and sister Doris W. Drumheller, husband, Manley, of Chester, VA; and nephew Timothy Drumheller of Hyannis, MA. Dennis was a kind and proud man, dedicated to his family. Interests included, playing guitar, gardening, fishing, coin collecting, and spending time with family and his many friends. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 21st at Teague Funeral Home, 2260 Ivy Road, Charlottesville. Following the Memorial, family will receive friends, also at Teague. Private interment will be held at a later date at Monticello Memorial Gardens.
