Daniel "Danny" Lee Thomas

Daniel "Danny" Lee Thomas, 79, of Charlottesville, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, October 2, 2022. He was under the care of Kindred Hospice and Albemarle Health and Rehabilitation. “Danny” was born on September 8th, 1943, in Charlottesville, VA to Albert and Elsie Thomas. He graduated from Albemarle High School in 1961, then joined the Marines, where he served as an Embassy Guard. He spent most of his duty in Naples, Italy and also participated on the US Marine fast pitch softball team. Upon the completion of his military duty, Danny began working at the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier and retired from his position after 37 years. After his retirement he went on to enjoy working at Charlottesville Dental Lab. Danny loved to run, fish, and play sports. One of his favorites activities was golfing with his buddies. Danny will be forever missed by all his friends and family. Daniel was preceded in death by his brother Bobby Thomas, and his parents Albert and Elsie Thomas. He is survived by his brother Gary, and sister-in-law Virginia “Ginny V”, his daughter and son; Tammy and Ty Thomas; grandchildren Kristi (Johnny), Danielle, Ali, Hannah, and Katie; and three great grandchildren; Freedom, Liberty, and Oaklen. A celebration of life will be held on October 15, 2022 from 12-2 pm at Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville, VA.
