Charles Frederick Utter

Charles Frederick Utter, 94 of Charlottesville, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at his home. Born January 24, 1924 in New York he was a son of the late Hobart and Clara Utter. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothea "Dot" Utter; daughter, Debbie Kachura; and brothers, Bart, Bill, and Edmond Utter. Charlie is survived by her daughter Nancy Utter of New Hampshire; sons, Craig Utter of Charlottesville and Brian Utter of Roanoke; grandchildren, Melissa, Melanie, Shandiin, Kiilbahi, Naatalgaii, and BizdeBah; and, great grandson, Kechxiinii. He served in the U.S. Army as a young man. Charlie grew up in Harrison, New York and retired to Virginia from Long Island in 1990. He and his dearly departed wife were both active members of Peace Lutheran Church where they served on the altar guild for many years. A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Peace Lutheran Church. An inurnment will take place at Holly Memorial Gardens at a later date. A time of food and remembrance will be held immediately following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Charlie's memory to Peace Lutheran Church, 1510 Broad Crossing Road, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
