Carol was such a good teacher. I started my nursing career under her tutelage and am a better nurse for it.  She was smart, caring, and very insightful. She will be missed. 

So many years have passed.  I was a co-worker with Ruth at SEARS,  Mr. Dave would diligently make peanut brittle for my children.  Ruth would bring in three orange pumpkins and it is filled with goodies.

We became a family working in the receiving department from 1985-1990 of SEARS.  
 I begin to think of Carole's parents. (2023 Aug 18) Only to find that Carole is at peace. 

Carole worked next to me for 3 years 1 month and 4 days.  
In that time she lost her dad, cat, and dog,  and gained a new dog, and a house. Each of these events coincided with major events in my life too  (literally days or weeks apart) I lost my mother in law, uncle,  and dog; and gained a new dog, and  house in the same order Carole did. If fate didn't stick us together, maybe bad luck did.
The last day I had with Carole was one of our best. We were laughing so hard-even though the buzz around the unit was about her skin tone(which she recognized and had a doctors appointment the next day for,)  Carole decided we should take a Google maps tour of the roads around her old house(which I live less than 2 miles from,) and the roads in front of her new house-and all of the roads around, her way to work,  and where to eat in standardsville. 
That day I was busy when she was leaving and failed to say goodbye. 
Carole left us so quickly it still doesn't seem real. But I know that she will live forever- because every every time I click my pen Carole is there cringing; any time a service dog comes by Carole is there giving ear rubs; and any time I look to the lonely corner to my left I'm going to wish I had Carole to sing to.  
We may have only been work friends, but every day we worked together she made my day easier, was always willing to share a kind word, and although I never got her to sing with me (she swore her singing voice was terrible-) she never complained about my 70track mind or the way I would sing Disney,  Temptations, backstreet boys,  and Dixie chick's back to back.  
Thank you Carole for keeping me less lonely on HUC Island,  for sharing your stories and life with me, and just as a side note being amazing at your job.  You are irreplaceable,  and are already so missed.  



I worked with Carole in the care of vascular surgical patients on 4C, prior to mid 2020.  She was a highly skilled case manager and provided valuable insights into the discharge planning process for patients.  To the family, please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. May God comfort you in the days, weeks, and months to come.

I learned to know Carole 33 years ago when she started on 3W at UVA, and worked closely with her over the years.  She was an incredibly insightful and skilled RN. Carole was taken from us too early, but I know she is in a much better place now. 

I worked with Carole on 3West almost 19 years ago and remember her dry sense of humour. I am so sorry for your loss. 

I can't believe Carol is gone so soon.  She was a respected and faithful UVA nurse.  She will be sorely missed by so many of us.

I use to work with Carole Prentiss on 4 central and I am saddened by her death.  I know she is in Heaven and I pray that her family and friends are comforted by God in this time of sorrow.  Well done God's good and faithful servant you are gone too soon.
