Billy James Wilson, 91, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 22, 2016. He was born on October 22, 1924 in Nashville, TN to the late Benjamin Turner Wilson and Effie May Durham Wilson. He was married to the late Juanita Esperanza Gonzalez Wilson for 66 years. Billy worked as a linotype operator and composing room supervisor for Richmond Newspapers, Inc. for 32 years, and he enjoyed working on his 26-acre Louisa County farm for over 40 years. He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps in WWII, where he was wounded in battle at Pelliliu, earning him a Purple Heart. He also volunteered as a Rescue Squad Driver for Holly Grove, Louisa County for 10 years. He was a Dale Carnegie Public Speaking Instructor and a member at North Charlottesville Church of Christ. In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Billy is preceded in death by his brother Ben D. Wilson. He is survived by five children: Ben T. Wilson and his wife Robinn, of Tempe, AZ; Katherine Wilson Thomas and her husband Preston of Charlottesville, VA; Frank D. Wilson and his wife Susan of Greensboro, NC; Wendy Wilson McCord and her husband Brady of Claremont, CA; and Dr. James C. Wilson and his wife Melissa of Cumberland, ME. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 6-8 PM at Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville, VA. A private family interment will be conducted at Quantico National Cemetery. The family is grateful to the staff at Our Lady of Peace in Charlottesville and most recently Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center, Richmond, VA for the wonderful care he was given.
