Willie Duren, age 91, of Charlotte died peacefully in his sleep, Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at home. He was born September 1, 1924 in Holly Ridge Mississippi to the late Ellie Hue Duren and Sallie Smith Duren. Willie served in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific theater. He moved to Charlotte in 1952 where he worked as a Pipeliner for Loftis Construction. In 1981 he went to work for Piedmont Natural Gas and retired from Piedmont in 1991. Willie was a devoted husband, father, and son. He was married to M.E. (Emmie) Vail for 47 years until her death and then married Charlotte Lewis. They were married for 14 years. He always said he was blessed with four wonderful women in his life, his mother, his wives and his daughter Patti. The family would like to thank the many individuals, facilities and medical personnel that provided such excellent, personal and loving car for Willie in his final years. Special thanks to his personal caregivers Theresa Cizmar and Shannon Davis for their special devotion to Willie A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 9, 2016 with a service to follow at 11:00 at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 4622 Nations Crossing Road, Charlotte, NC. Burial will conclude at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, Charlotte, NC.
