Bill was born on April 30, 1939 in Youngstown, Ohio. He graduated from Boardman High School in 1957 and was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and the All American Marching Band at Purdue University, where he graduated in 1961. He started his career at Western Electric in Chicago, which is the city where he met the love of his life, Diane Marie Nock, in 1962. The two married on December 7, 1963 and celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary aboard a cruise with their children and grandchildren in November 2015. After moving back to Ohio in 1967, Bill started a long and prosperous career at Goodyear Aerospace in Akron where he worked for the next 22 years, while residing in Cuyahoga Falls. He was also involved with the United Way, Junior Achievement and the First United Methodist Church in Cuyahoga Falls. Bill will be remembered as an avid golfer, Life Master bridge player, traveler, runner, and GOBA bicyclist, but most of all a loving husband, father and granddad.
He is survived by his wife Diane Syfer, daughters Kim Snopik (Paul), Sandy Weiss (Jeff), and Debbie Leatherman, along with his 6 grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Vivian Syfer and his granddaughter, Jacqueline Diane Weiss.
The family will have a private service but an open visitation will be held at 12:00 on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at McEwen Funeral Service Pineville Chapel.
