William Mack "Bill" Stroud, 73, of Granite Falls, NC, formerly of Fort Mill, SC, passed away on June 5, 2023. Bill Stroud was born June 24,1949, in Charlotte, NC to the late Willie Wilson and Margaret McManus Stroud.
In addition to his parents, his precious little brother, Roger Stroud; beloved daughter, Gwen Stroud; and treasured grandson, Jake Clarkson, preceded him in death.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Margie Hilton; sisters, Marsha Stroud and Kathy Clayton (Alan); step children, Melinda Haverlock (Mike), Glenda Clarkson (Chip) and Justin Thomas (April); grandchildren, Corbin, Kayla, Chelsea, Brianna, Lane, Jackson and Remi; great grandchildren, Maddy Lynn and Beckley; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bill grew up in northern Mecklenburg County and graduated from North Mecklenburg High School in 1967. As a boxer, he won the 1967 Carolinas Golden Gloves Welterweight title. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ, his family and helping others through various organizations, including Alcoholics Anonymous and GriefShare. He retired in 2008 after a very successful and diverse career of 40 years with Duke Energy. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid Clemson Tigers fan.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service, Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11 AM in the Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208. Burial in Forest Lawn West Cemetery will follow the service. People are welcomed to come earlier to visit with the family prior to the service.
