Mr. Hutto, age 76, of Charlotte, died Friday, January 10, 2014 at Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center. Born July 4, 1937 in Kings Mountain, he was a son of the late Lee Hutto and Naomi Litton Hutto. He graduated from Central High School and earned an associate degree in business from Central Piedmont Community College. Mr. Hutto served in the US Army. He was a former prison guard and retired as a clerk of Overnight Transportation after 30 years of service. He was a member of Central Church of God, Derita Athletics and Spokesman Club. An avid gardener, Mr. Hutto always shared his entire crop with family and friends.
The family will receive friends 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Sunday at McEwen Funeral Service - Derita Chapel. The service to celebrate the life of William Carroll Hutto will be held 2:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Leroy Grant, officiating. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Elgeva Kiser Hutto; five sons, Scott Hutto and wife, Nicole, Tim Hutto and wife, Debbie, Todd Hutto and fiancée, Kim, Phillip Hutto and wife, Janice and Kelly Hutto and wife, Deborah; two sisters, Billie Sellars and Toye Smith; and sixteen grandchildren.

Mr. Hutto constantly read his Bible and had a Christ-centered attitude in everything he did. He frequently stated, “I am waiting for my new body!”
