William Harold Gale Huss passed away peacefully at home on June 5, 2010 after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Huss was surrounded by his loving wife, family and friends. Mr. Huss was born and raised in Charlotte. He served in United States Marines, Third Battalion, First Marine Division, Seventh Marines, I-3/7.fought for his country during World War II and was wounded September 25, 1944 on the Island of Peleilu. He received a Purple Heart for this action and processed out to civilian life in 1946. He retired from Jefferson Pilot Broadcasting in 1986 as their pressroom supervisor. In retirement Mr. Huss spent
his time doing wood working. He enjoyed vacationing at the North Carolina beaches with his family surf fishing. He also loved the family pets which were many throughout the years. Mr. Huss leaves behind his wife of 63 years Hazel and two children David Huss of Raleigh, and Patricia Huss of Charlotte. Mr. Huss is survived by one brother Richard “Norman” Huss. William Huss was the son of the late Joseph and Lillian Huss from Miami, Florida. Preceded in death were his older brother Joe Huss and sister Roberta Nuchols both of Miami, Florida. The family will receive friends on Tuesday June 8, 2010 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte NC, 28210.
