William "Bill" C. Hooper

A native of Charlotte, Bill was born to the late William Joseph and Myrtle Deaton Hooper on November 28, 1948. He was an avid ham radio operator (KF4ZZP) and member of MARS, former member of the NC Council of the Blind Charlotte Chapter, and former member of the Jaycees and a true blue Tarheels fan.

Bill was preceded in death by infant daughter, Mary Catherine Hooper; sisters, Shirley Smith, Marie Smith and sister-in-law, Patricia Buraglio.

Bill is survived by his wife Jo Anne Hooper; children, Cliff Hooper (Kassi), Rebecca Hooper; brother-in-law, Art Buraglio (Marsha); sisters-in-law, Carla Brown (Harvey), Mary Sparger (Bill) and many loving nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends, Jerry Cole(Lynne).

Beloved husband, father, uncle and friend to all he met. He retired in 2004 from a variety of fields from Old Dominion Box to computer programming.

A memorial service will be held 11:00a.m., Wednesday, July 11 in the chapel at Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service, 5301 Albemarle Rd., Charlotte. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. The committal will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
