William "Bill" Thurman Gray, Jr. was born March 13, 1932. He was born in Gastonia; however, he always thought of himself as a Charlotte Native. He was the third generation of the Wilmouth/Gray family that lived in the Eastover neighborhood.
Bill was a veteran, having spent time in Fort Jackson and became Corporal.
After the army, he moved back to Charlotte and lived with his mother, Helen Wilmouth Gray, and his partner Benjamin Burch.
Mr. Gray worked for the City of Charlotte in the accounting/payroll department for over 25 years and made many friends.
His passion was his family. He loved spending time with his mother and his partner Ben and their two dogs Benji and Trixie.
In place of flowers, Mr. Gray would have wanted donations to the Alzheimer's Association of Charlotte, which was an organization whose cause was near to his heart.
A service by the graveside to honor him will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 19 at the historic Elmwood Cemetery, with clergy from First Presbyterian officiating.
