The memorial will be on Thursday, July 1st, 2021 at forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 4:00 p.m. with Steve Miller officiating. Military Honors will be rendered concluding the service.
Roger was born on May 10th, 1941 in Charlotte, NC to the late William Harvey Craig and Vera Inez Craig. In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his sister, Moonyeene Strayhorn.
Roger is survived by his brokenhearted wife, Kathy Craig; son, Marty Graves and wife Sheri of Corpus Christi, TX; daughter, Ginger Laine and husband Robbie of Irmo, SC; and six most loved grandchildren, Robert Graves, Katy Wilkinson and husband Matthew, Melissa Lancaster and husband Colin, Tyler Graves and wife Coral, Emily Graves, and Joseph “Joey” Craig; as well as two precious great-granddaughters, Hannah Lancaster and Addison Wilkinson. Roger is also survived by his sweet sister, Trisha Hudson and her husband Cletus Hudson of Lawrenceville, GA, and numerous nieces and nephews. Roger was truly blessed by Georgia Oxendine, Dave Mendenhal, Hal Sumpter, Trish Kittrell, and Neal Sparrow, who all held a special place in his heart.
Roger retired from Pilot Freight Line and worked at Neal’s Pallet Co., Inc. until January 2021. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a member of Steele Creek Lodge #0737 for 52 years. Roger was a member of the Highlighters and Zodiac senior dance clubs. Most importantly, Roger was a member of the Gold Hill Church of Christ.
