Bill was born in Childersburg, Alabama and moved to Louisville, Kentucky in 1952 where he lived with his family until relocating to North Carolina. Bill graduated from Garinger High School in 1968. He spent the first 25 years of his career outfitting Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, Firemen, Nurses and other first responders managing Hub Uniform Company. The last 15 years of his career was spent traveling throughout the entire Southeast outfitting law enforcement with body armor and aiding in keeping them safe. He was also a pilot for many years, was very passionate about flying and had an opportunity to rekindle his love for flying in his retirement years.
Bill was a devout and faithful Jehovah’s Witness and his faith and love for Jehovah was apparent and strong. Bill loved reading and studying the Bible. Bill was steadfast in his faith and held strong in his faith of Jehovah’s promise of everlasting life. Bill’s most important goal throughout the last 50+ years of his life was to love and care for his wife, Linda. He spent many years being her caregiver. The love shared between Bill and Linda was immense, respectful and an example of a marriage for many to follow. Bill’s family and sharing Jehovah God’s promises were the most important pieces of his life.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Linda Burns; his sons, Darek Burns (Amanda), Keith Burns (Marc Penna), and Mark Burns (Erin); his grandchildren, Christina Morgan (Chase), Benny Burns, and Brody Burns; his great-granddaughter, Mia Morgan; his sister, Becky Campbell (Sid); and many other loving extended family members.
