William Stephen (Steve) Burnette (68) passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, October 14, 2021. He was born January 15, 1953 to Ralph William and Peggy Caston Burnette and was a life-long resident of Charlotte, NC.
Mr. Burnette graduated from Independence High School in 1971 and subsequently worked at the Mecklenburg County garage until he retired in 2008. He married the love of his life, Kimberly (Kim) Williams Burnette in 1996.
Steve’s passion was cars, specifically Chevrolet cars. He loved working on them, driving them and occasionally racing them.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Kim; sister, Robin Ayscue of Charlotte, NC; two uncles; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Burnette Parker, and his niece, Ashley Ayscue Ratcliffe.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the service. Interment will follow the service at Sharon Memorial Park.
