Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Nita; his sons, Kyle(Kim) and Cory(Jennifer); his grandchildren, Taylor Hood(Chris), Zachary, Hailey, Blaine(Brielle) and Sarah; a great-grandson, Orion Smith; his brother, Wendell Smith(Marcia); and brother-in-law, Dr. Al Crowe(Gail).
Mr. Smith was born January 22, 1935 in Savannah, Georgia. After high school and junior college, he joined the US Army and was a member of the elite 82nd Airborne Division. After leaving active service, he spent 30 years in the food service industry working for Morrison’s Cafeterias, Howard Johnsons and K&W Cafeterias. Tommy loved his country and his family and was deeply loved by them.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, January 26, 2018 at McEwen Derita Chapel, officiated by his nephew, Bert Crowe. Visitation with the family will follow.
