Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1976 and retired with the Rank of Staff Sergeant. While in the Air Force he received many medals and letters of accommodation.
Wayne is survived by his sister, Elaine Collingwood; his niece, Kathy McIntyre and his nephew, Gerald Griffith (Patricia "Patty" Griffith).
Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Walker and his mother, Edna Walker; his sister, Lyndell Randall and his brother-in-law, Bernard Collingwood (Elaine Collingwood).
Wayne had been living in an assisted living community over the past six years. During the last few months of his life Wayne was visited by Hospice nurses regularly, who took very good care of him.
A graveside service for Wayne will be held Monday, September 11, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Sharon Memorial Park, 5400 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC 28212.
