Mr. Walter Grover Nash, Jr., age 57 passed into the loving arms of his savior on Thursday April 24, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Charlotte on July 14, 1956 to the late Walter Grover Nash Sr. and Inza Baucom Nash. Walter graduated from CMS in 1977. Walter worked for Mecklenburg County CodeEnforcement for 24 years as a Building Inspector III, retiring June 2013. Prior to that Walter worked at McDevitt and Street Construction for 14 years as a superintendent, mainly on Presbyterian Hospital projects. Walter is known as “Walt” or “Elvis” to family and friends. Walt loved his family and the simple things in life, like watching shows such as Bonanza, Big Valley, Let’s make a Deal, Forest Gump and The Sound of Music. He enjoyed Elvis Presley movies and music with his favorite being “How Great Thou Art”. He loved the beach of Oak Island, NC where he could be found surf fishing or just sitting on the beach. He had a wonderful sense of humor giving many of his friends and family nick names such as Blondie, The Rock, Angel Rock, Auntie M, Cowboy, Double T, Flint and Killer just to name a few, all with wonderful funny stories behind them. Walter leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 36 years Debra B. Nash; son, Walter Bryant Nash; daughter, Brittany M. Nash; sister, Susan Nash Nottingham and husband Linwood all of Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 P.M., Sunday, April 27, 2014, at East Baptist Church with a service to celebrate his life at 1:30 P. M. with the Pastor Jon DeBell officiating.
