Private First Class Walter O. Carson, 86, died peacefully in his home on July 1, 2016. A veteran of World War II, Walter served overseas as a Messenger with A Company at the 19th Infantry Regiment at Beppu, Japan. He received numerous awards, merits and commendations.PFC Carson was born September 2, 1929 in Crumpler, WV to Walter J. and Bulah Carson. In 1946, he joined the United States Army. PFC Carson was a brave and loyal soldier, as well as a patient and loving father. He married Louise Lusk Carson and they had 4 children. He served as a Scottish Rite Shriner and retired as a truck driver. He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Carson High (Johnie) and Rhonda Carson Woodfin; his son, Walter Kenneth Carson (Terri); seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Louise Lusk Carson and his son, Freddie Ray Carson.A memorial service will take place at Forest Lawn West's chapel on Tuesday, July 5, with the burial being held privately. Minister Jim Parrish will officiate. Funeral arrangements are provided by the Forest Lawn West Funeral Home, 4601 Freedom Drive.
