Born in Lumberton, NC, she was the daughter of Caroline Griffith Monts and Edwin Paris Monts. Vee started college in 1962 at the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina, which became University of North Carolina at Greensboro by the time she graduated with an English degree in 1965. She was Assistant News Editor of The Carolinian at UNCG and went on to work at The State Newspaper in Columbia, SC after graduation. In 1968, she moved to Charlotte, NC where she began working at The Charlotte News, owned, and run by The Charlotte Observer. She was a dedicated and ambitious news reporter there until 1971, when she went to work in the Publications department at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She retired from UNCC in 1992 as the Director of Information and Publications.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gene Fogle; 2 children, Paris Fogle and Dylan Fogle; 3 beloved grandchildren, Willa, Vivianna, and Rose.
Vee’s wishes were to be cremated after her death with no funeral service. Please remember her fondly and keep their family in your thoughts and prayers.
