She is survived by husband McIver Horne; daughter, Brenda Lockwood; granddaughter, Krystal Petruski, husband Ryan and two beautiful great grandchildren, Brielle Elizabeth and Nathan McIver; sisters LeRue Bracey of Dillon, SC, Ethelene Williams and Myrtle Williams of Denver, NC; and one special longtime friend, Margaret Cline-Wert.
Virginia was born in Lake View, SC to parents Rufus Curtis Gardner and Rollie Mae Gardner.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Viada Miller, Grace Shumaker and brothers, Clyde Gardner, Woodrow Gardner and R.M. "Maxie" Gardner.
She was employed by Duke Power for 37 years (1953-1990).
Virginia was member of the Church of the Open Door Baptist Church in Charlotte where she was also, a member of the Tuesday morning Bible class. She loved her church family, played the piano for many years and attended until she was no longer able.
Family visitation will be held at 12:00 pm June 15, 2022 at Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte; followed by funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 pm.
