Virginia was born in Wood County, Ohio to James L. Allen and Goldie Mae Rodgers Allen.
She is survived by her sons Tommie Lee Austin (Marilyn), and David Don Austin (Barbara), and her daughter Susanna Austin who care for her for years, granddaughter Heather Johnson (Kevin) and great grandson Henry Johnson, and other grandchildren: Leslie, Wendy, Connie, Tim, Mark, Gary and Terry.
She retired as Head Custodian at Perrysburg Junior High School after seven and one-half years, and at Woodland School three years. Before that, she did custodial work for Craig Transportation for 17 years and Bowling Green State University for one year.
Visitation for Mrs. Austin will be on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 from 2 - 4 pm at McEwen Funeral Home - Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210.
