She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Barry Winton; son, Robert Leland Winton; her sister, Margaret Szego Chaiet; and her brothers, Alfred and Leonard Szego.
Vi graduated from George Washington High in New York. She had a passion for museums, where she absorbed lessons of design. She used this knowledge in New York and Charlotte as an interior designer. Vi co-founded Winton Importers, where she served as Vice President and Creative Director. A cordial hostess, Vi invited both friends and strangers to her table. Her joy was family.
Vi is survived by her daughter, Nadine Winton Fox; grandsons, Andrew Fox and Marc Winton; granddaughters, Nicole Fox, Sarah Fronstin, and Rachel Winton; and five great-grandchildren.
Vi cared deeply for Temple Beth El and was a Life Member of Hadassah. A memorial service will be held at Temple Beth El in Charlotte, at noon on Sunday, Nov. 20th.
