Vanessa Jane Robertson Johnson, lifelong resident of Charlotte and servant of the Lord, passed away Saturday, April 5th of natural causes. She passed peacefully, surrounded by and bathed in the love of her dearest family and friends.
Vanessa was the younger of two daughters, a mother of four children, an aunt and great aunt to several nieces and nephews, a dear friend, and most proudly a grandmother to her best friend, Theodora.
An avid reader, music lover, and television enthusiast, Vanessa will perhaps be best remembered by the world as a nurturer. Whether as an assistant teacher in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system, a youth leader for multiple area churches, a manager, or a customer care provider, Vanessa was always known for leading with her tender heart and her eternal mantra: What Would Jesus Do?
In the Kingdom of Heaven, she joins her beloved parents, James Robertson and Sarah Boggan Robertson, as well as her many aunts, uncles, and grandparents.
Vanessa is survived by her daughter, Katie; sons, Mike, Robby, and Jonathan; her sister and brother-in-law Cathy and Mike Slusher; her nieces, Kimberly, Amy, and Lauren; her nephew, Adam; her grandnephews Alec, Ethan, Evan, and Noah; her grandniece, Abby; her goddaughters, Kim and Natasha; her cousins Linda, David, John, Carol, Julie, and Mary; and her beloved granddaughter, Theodora.
A service to celebrate Vanessa’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26th at McEwen Funeral Service – Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
