A native of Mecklenburg County, Mrs. Morris was born to the late William Robert and Ruby Harwell Hager on April 11, 1927. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church for over 50 years and was very active with the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Morris was also a member of the White Shrine and volunteered with the Red Bird Mission. She was a homemaker and avid gardener. Mrs. Morris’s family was her pride and joy and she loved doing things for others and lived her life as best she could, striving to serve God. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Samuel C. Morris.
Mrs. Morris is survived by her children, Verna Beacham of Charlotte, Stanton Morris and wife Wanda of Charlotte, Eva Thomas and husband Gene of Tamassee, SC; grandchildren, David Beacham, Michael Beacham and wife Amanda, Terry Morris, Shannon Gustafson and husband Alan, Sara Smith and husband Jamie, Kate White and husband Jayson; great-grandchildren, Seth and Sydney Beacham, Austin Gustafson and Chloe Smith.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 20 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 512 West Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203 with the Reverend Jae Lee officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m., Monday in Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
