Thomas "Tommy" Smith George

Born July 7, 1944 in Mt. Airy, NC. He was the son of the late Hilden Olin George, and the late Lavinia Neil George. Tommy graduated from East Surry High School in Pilot Mountain, NC. He went straight to work in the textile industry. He started cleaning machines at Duplan in Winston-Salem, NC and working in the shipping department. From there on to Texifi in Lumberton, NC as a supervisor, then with J.P. Stevens in Greenville, SC as a supervisor, then to South Boston, VA as a supervisor. From there he went with Barmag in Charlotte, NC as an engineer and traveled all over the world. Then Spectrum in Marion, NC, and from there he went to O'Mara in Rutherford College, NC until his retirement 7 years ago.

Tommy loved his work and work friends. He was a great supporter of Pat, Lynn, and Susan and moved them 16 times. He met and married his wife, Pat 59 years ago at Duplan in Winston-Salem. They had 2 daughters, Lynn Marshall (Joe), and the late Susan George, 1 granddaughter - Megan Marshall. He loved and enjoyed his girls with all his heart.

Tommy was a huge sports fan of the Charlotte Hornets, Panthers football, and wild about NASCAR races. He has a little dog "Chloe" who loved him to pieces. She's been very sad since his passing.

A memorial service for Thomas will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 2:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service-Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210. A reception will follow afterwards.
