On the evening of March 13, 2024, our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Thomas Daniel Clark, peacefully entered into eternal life at the age of 85. Thomas was born to the late Will Clark and Sarah Redding Clark, in Juliette, Georgia on February 2, 1939. Thomas was reared in a Christian home and joined St. Peter Rock Baptist Church at an early age. He was active in a quartet singing group that traveled to various churches as a part of a music ministry. He later joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC. Thomas was educated and graduated from the Hubbard Training High School, Forsyth, Georgia, in 1957.
Thomas D. Clark's legacy is truly inspiring and impactful. As a courageous and trusted Master Sergeant in the US Army, he exemplified diligence and superb leadership. Which landed his participation in multiple classified life-threatening missions thus earning him numerous medals and accolades. His strong sense of humanitarianism and dedication to helping others set him apart as a true fighter for good. After retiring from his military career after 26 years of service, he began working at Cutler-Hammer in Fayetteville, NC where he subsequently retired. In 1992, he met and married the love of his life, Varah Wallace Hart-Clark, who preceded him in death.
Beyond his military service, Thomas was a talented cook, known for creating soulful dishes and delectable desserts such as rum cake, peach cobbler, chocolate cake, etc. bringing joy to those around him. One of his breakfast specialties, S.O.S., was creamed beef on toast; it may not have been visually appealing at first, but one bite would make you regret ever doubting his culinary skills. It was delicious and you’d soon ask humbly for a second serving. Thomas was known for greeting others with a deep and comforting voice, often accompanied by a warm smile. He had a way of making others feel like family from the moment they met him. His love for his family and his big heart, gave him his unwavering commitment to making the world a better place as he was always looking for ways to help others.
Thomas's intelligence, excellent memory, and willingness to embrace new technologies showcased his multifaceted personality. Whether writing and producing music online or connecting with others on social media, he always found ways to share his unique perspective on life. Truly a remarkable individual, his presence will be deeply missed, and his impact on those who knew him will be remembered forever.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Thomas Clark Jr.; daughter, Linda Collins (Cedric); sister, Nellie Ingram; 2 granddaughters (Brenda Pittman, Cedara Collins) and 2 grandsons (Antonio Clark, Cohen Collins). He also had 4 great-granddaughters and 2 great-grandsons. He was cherished by a heap of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A visitation for Thomas will be held Monday, March 25, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at External Service Location, 2020 W Sugar Creek Rd, Charlotte, NC 28262. A funeral service will occur Monday, March 25, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 2020 W Sugar Creek Rd, Charlotte, NC 28262. A committal service will occur Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Salisbury National Cemetery, 202 Government Rd, Salisbury, NC 28144.
