Theodore Dewey Hunt, 94, of Charlotte, died peacefully on November 18, 2013 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House. He was born in Gaston County on February 14, 1919 and is the son of the late Joseph Lee Hunt, Sr. and Sadie Lawing Hunt.
Mr. Hunt graduated from Mount Holly High School and served a tour of duty and a re-enlistment in the Navy during WWII. He was a former chief gunner’s mate (mines) /US Navy and was a proud member of the China-Burma-India Veterans Association of Metrolina.
A retired appliance repair and serviceman, Mr. Hunt operated his own business during the latter part of his career. He was the oldest man (and a 58 year) member of University Hills Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen Jones Hunt; second wife, Mabel Carlton Hunt; step-mother, Nellie Hunt; brothers, Ulys Hunt, Clyde Hunt, Clarence Hunt, Edison Hunt, Joe Hunt, Jr. and Marvin Hunt; nieces Elizabeth Gabriel and Karen Kale.
He is survived by nephews, Dr. Clyde Hunt, Jr., and Daniel Hunt; nieces, Geraldine Sinclair, Kathy Wilson, Beverly Alwran, Janet Patterson, Marsha Williams, Sharon Mims and Kim Kiser; step-daughter, Annette Whitley; sisters-in-law, Colleen Hunt, Patsy Hunt and Nell Hunt.
A Service to Celebrate Mr. Hunt’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, November 22, 2013 at University Hills Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Toney officiating.
Arrangements are in the care of Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Dr., Charlotte.
